Orange County Land Trust Press Release:

Welcome Karin Roux as New Wallkill River Watershed Steward!

Karin Roux
The Orange County Land Trust today named Karin Roux as Wallkill River Watershed Steward. In announcing the decision, Land Trust Executive Director, Jim Delaune said "We are extremely pleased that Karin has agreed to join the Land Trust.

Karin has her Master of Science from George Mason University. She was a Smithsonian Fellow and spent time as a Wildlife Intern in South Africa with the Mqubu Ntombela Foundation. She will continue to work part time as an Adjunct Instructor in OCCC's Biology Department.

At the Land Trust, Roux will be working to increase public awareness of Wallkill River issues. Karin will also be coordinating the efforts of the Land Trust with school and municipalities in order to improve the River’s habitat quality and increase public access opportunities to the River in a non-invasive manner.

“I am so pleased to be part of the Orange County Land Trust as I have long admired their work,” said Roux, “and I look forward to meeting and working with representatives of all the organizations that are dedicated to improving the Wallkill River."

A recent project completed by the Land Trust on the Wallkill was the creation of a car-top boat launch in the Town of Montgomery, in addition to its work with the Village of Walden on public access.
